Rob's
Family
Album

In the course of creating my ancestral family and "Icelandic-centric" websites, I wished for a way for others to contribute and interact on the web.

This wasn't possible for me to create on my websites, due to an abundance of ambition, but a lack of talent. Then I discovered a hosting service called myfamily.com that has already set up such an online situation. Overjoyed with not having to reinvent the wheel, but simply adapt an other's wheel, I set about putting together some of these user-interactive web sites.

If you would like to join any of these on-line communities, click on the group name below to send me an email request and I will send you an invitation.

Here is what I've created so far:

Rob's Family Album: This is my way of creating a common web link for all of my extended family.

So whether you are a descendant (or married to one) of Pjetur Finnson and Maria Stefania Johannesdóttir, or Jón Jónsson Freeman and Sigurlaug Thorbergsdóttir, or Matusalem Ólason and Guðrun Einarsdóttir, or Jon Magnusson and Guðríthur Árnadóttir, or of all of them, this site has been created as an online gathering place for their descendants.

Blaine Icelander's Coffee Time: This is where Blaine Icelanders take their on-line coffee break (kaffitími).

The coffee pot is always on, there are plenty of molasykur and rjómi for those who don't like the strong dark coffee we always make, and we always have an extra chair at the table, waiting for you to drop by. We share stories and perhaps a tall tale or two in addition to debating the best recipe for making the perfect vinarterta.

Hillsdale Cemetery News: This site is the online meeting place for the friends and family of loved ones whose final resting place is the Hillsdale Cemetery. This site is intended to help support the ongoing maintenance and care of the cemetery by keeping cemetery supporters informed of activities at the cemetery.

Speaking about the North American Icelander: This is a site where North Americans of Icelandic descent can gather to discuss issues important to our continent-wide community. We can celebrate our past, share our hopes, our dreams and our concerns for the present and the future. Most of all this site is intended to create a greater sense of what our community is--and what it can become.
