2007 Freeman "Haying" Picnic

Originating in our family's farming past, the "Haying Picnic" was a late summer family get-together that took place after the hay crop had been successfully completed and in the barn.

It was also a good excuse to take a break from farming and have a family gathering where every family brought a dish to share and young and old got a chance to "play."

Today most of us don't farm, don't put up hay, but we can still bring a dish to share and a story or two to swap. The haying picnic brings us together at "Franklin Park," the old Franklin Johnson farm now operated by brothers Larry and Doug Freeman.

We all say thanks to Larry and Doug and their families for keeping this tradition alive.

Cousins Leona, Linda, Sharon, Jean, Vikki, and seated, Joan.

If you have any pictures you'd like to share from the picnic, e-mail them to me and I will post them here.
